the Lewiston Daily Sun:
"MONMOUTH-- John H. Kemp, who had once been sold as a slave boy, died Friday afternoon at his home in Curtis Corner. Born in Virginia, February 12, 1864, he was the son of Washington and Maria Kemp. He had been a resident of Curtis Corner for 35 years.
"Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Kemp; three daughters, Mrs. Blanch Nash of Portland; Mrs. Etta Nichols of Lewiston; Miss Lottie Kemp of Curtis Corner; two sons, Maurice of Curtis Corner; and Henry of Monmouth; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Jotham of Monmouth and Miss Laura Kemp of Lewiston; and three grandchildren."
