Herman Wenke was born in Oldenburg, Germany in 1876 and immigrated to America with his parents, Dietrich and Caroline Wenke in 1880. Louise Lange was born at West Point in 1882 , the daughter of William and Friedricka Lange.
Herman and Louise were married at First Trinity Lutheran Church in February, 1902. They lived on a farm north of Bloomfield the first six years of their married life. At that time they purchased a farm southwest of Bloomfield in the Morrillville community. They lived on the farm until Herman's death in 1946. Louise then made her home in Bloomfield where she passed away in 1980.
Six sons and three daughters were born to this union: Charles (Laura Witt), Henry (Dessie McFarlane), Walter ( Mildred Larson), Everett, Herman (Cleo McFarland), Herbert (Sylvia True), Ricka (William Dannert), Emma (Harold Durant), and Hilda (Maurice Kuhl) .
