In 1880 William Lange and Friedricka Luedeman were married and in 1895 they came to Bloomfield with their children.
They acquired a 160 acre prairie 6 miles northwest of
Bloomfield and there they reared their eight children, educated in rural school and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Many were the stories told about prairie fires, Indian and gypsy problems. Ida Pauline Lange married Martin Boldenow in 1899. Louise married Herman Wenke in 1902. Caroline married John Smith in 1904. Henry married Bertha Rose in 1910. Emma married Carl Steffens in 1910. Minnie married Will Frerichs in 1914. Gussie married Ben Bishop. William Jr. married Elsie Weber in 1922.
All but 3 daughters lived in and around Bloomfield all their lives and raised their families here.
In 1913 William and Friedricka moved to town, the farm was purchased by their son Henry and his wife. Henry died in 1918 of the influenza epidemic and his widow was sole owner of the farm. She rented the land out and moved into Bloomfield to educate her 3 children the Lutheran Church School and High School. They then moved back to the farm.
