Son of the late Benjamin Franklin Callahan, Jr. and Maude O'dell Martin Callahan Simmons.

Mr. Callahan was vice-president of sales at The Resource Group/Telespectrum. Benny was a Major League Baseball pitcher who was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 31st round of the 1980 amateur draft, then traded to the Oakland Athletics on June 15, 1983. One week later he made his major league debut with the A's.

Benny is survived by his wife, two children, a brother, and two half-sisters. His two golden retrievers, Kemper and Kobie, were considered special family members, too.
