Obituary from The Optimist Newspaper in Jamestown, Cloud County, Kansas on September 15, 1904: Shot Himself. Sherman Wilson, a young man about 23 years of age, who has been in the employ of Conrad Romieser, five miles north of Glasco, shot and killed himself with a 22-calibre Winchester rifle last Friday evening. Coroner Marcotte and Sheriff Moore were called and held an inquest on the body. Saturday is was learned that the young man was in love with a 14 year old girl, and because she did not take kindly to his advances he became despondent and killed himself. He was a nephew of Robert and Andrew Wilson of Summit township and was also related to the Amspacker's. Sammie Wilson, who resided about four miles northwest of Glasco, and who shot himself Friday evening, was born Oct. 12, 1880, and departed this life Sept. 8, 1904, aged 23 years, 10 months, and 28 days. He was highly respected by all who knew him and why should we commit such a deed, "if he did" is beyond the knowledge of those who knew him. The funeral took place in the Macyville M.E. Church, conducted by G.A. Davis, Sept. 12, at 11 o'clock. The large attendance showed the respect with which he was held as the church would not hold the people and the procession which went to the cemetery was nearly a half mile long. The vast crowd seemed to be in deep sympathy with the large circle of friends who are called to mourn the loss of one who was whirled into eternity so suddenly.

Glasco Sun, Sept. 16, 1904, page 8: Death By Shooting. Samuel Wilson was found wounded and unconscious by one of Conrad Romeiser's daughters about eight o'clock last Friday evening in a lot near the barn as she was going to milk. He did not regain consciousness and died about an hour later. Mr. Wilson was 24 years old, of splendid repute, and had worked on the Romeiser farm about six years. On the evening of his death he had gone hunting with a 22-calibre Winchester rifle. The ball entered a little to the left of the center of his breast and ranged downward to near the heart. An inquest was held Saturday, and the jury's verdict was suicide, although the cause for such an act was not made clear by the evidence. Mr. Wilson's parents formerly lived in Solomon township. His father now resides in Oklahoma, his mother sleeps in the Macyville cemetery, where, after services at Macyville church, the son's remains were laid Sunday.

Card of Thanks. I wish to thank all friends for their kind assistance at the death and burial of my son. Hugh Wilson.
