NETTLETON – Evelyn "Sally" Shumpert, 59, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks in Verona. She was born Sept. 14, 1950, to Eugene White and Ada White of Wren. She attended Wren and West Amory High School. She was a great mother and a faithful member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Usher Board and choir and a former Sunday School teacher. She was employed at Hickory Springs Manufacturing, and retired after 33 years of service in March 2010.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Nettleton with the Rev. George Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Darden and Sons Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her mother, Ada White of Wren; one son, Antwan Moore, and a daughter, Elaynia (Donald) Dilworth, both of Wren; two sisters, Dorothy Hawkins and Geraldine McIntosh of Wren; three grandchildren, Kendry Jernighan, Elandra Jernighan and Cambrian Moore, and one great-grandchild, Kyndra Jernighan, all of Wren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene White, and two brothers, Tommie White and Willie White.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Friday, July 2 with the family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
