MORY – Willie Winford "Skillet" White, 60, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at his home after a long illness. He was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Nettleton, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, Trustee Board member, usher, Sunday school superintendent and a mission teacher. He was a graduate of West Amory High School, where he was an outstanding football and baseball player. He served two years in the U.S. Army and served in the Reserves until 1972. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he loved his church.

Services will be at noon Saturday at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. George R. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the New Prospect Cemetery in Nettleton. Darden and Sons Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Ada Mae White of Wren; his wife, Janie E. White of Amory; three stepsons, Billy Spratt of Wren, Calvin Moore of Arlington, Texas, and Bobby "B.J." Ghoston Jr. of Oxford; two daughters, Clarice White and Mary Lois Spratt, both of Wren; two stepdaughters, Lisa Moore of Wren and Victoria Ghoston of Starkville; three sisters, Dorothy Hawkins and Geraldine McIntosh, both of Wren, and Evelyn Shumpert of Nettleton; eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today, followed by a wake from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Saturday.
