MRS. REED, 80, DIES AT HOME
Mrs. Eliza J. Reed, 80, lifelong resident of the St. Paul community, died at Major Hospital at 2:25 this morning of a complication of diseases. She had been in failing health for four months and in a serious condition for the past month.
The daughter of Samuel and Martha (Bumpas) Leffler, she was born near St. Paul on February 28, 1874. On March 17, 1891, she was married to Alfred M. Reed whose death occurred October 17, 1937. Six children were born to this union and four survive, Carl M. Reed, Litchfield, Minn., Mrs. Grace Ash of this city, Mrs. Walter Dawson, Waldron, and Forrest Reed of near St. Paul. Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Myrtle Price, Mrs. Ollie Sink and Gene Leffler, all of St. Paul, and Ira Leffler of Washington, Ind. There are 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Reed was a member of the Union Chapel E.U.B. Church. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Carmony Funeral Home in St. Paul. Rev. Paul Sites will officiate and burial will be in the Union Chapel cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
