Lewis F. Krebs
SHREWSBURY - Lewis F. "Louie" Krebs, 98, of Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village, formerly of Glen Rock, died Saturday evening at the home, where he resided since 1986. He was the husband of the late Lottie V. (Meckley) Krebs.
The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Krebs was born in Codorus Township. He was the son of the late Lewis and Leah (Caslow) Krebs.
He retired in 1959 from the former Glen Traditionals Inc., where he was an assembler for several years. He had previously worked as a laborer with Geiple Furniture and Funeral Home, Glen Rock, and had been caretaker at St. Jacob's (Stone) Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I, serving as a cook with Company H of the 316th Infantry Regiment in the European Theatre. He was the last World War I veteran member of Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403, Glen Rock. He was the oldest member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Jacob's (Stone) Church and Sunday school. He was a member of Sandilands Commandery #152 A&IO Knights of Malta, York; Knights of Pythius, Friendly Lodge #287, Glen Rock; Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Fire Co.; and Glen Rock Fireman's Relief Association.
Mr. Krebs is survived by nieces and nephews.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Richard C. Weaver.
