Of O'Brien Dies
KNOX CITY, Tex. (Special)
- Lee Ernest Hughes, 69, a resident of the Knox City area most of his life died at his home near O'Brien wedesday morning. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday March 30, 1972 in the O'Brien Baptist Church. Officiating was the former pastor, The Rev. Mart Hardin, of Chickasha, Okla., the Rev. Jackie Lee, pastor, and the Rev. Roger Butler of Knox City. Burial was in the Knox City Cemtery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Gentry Day, Buster Hodges, Bud Carver, Sam Leaverton, Weldon LaDuke, Cyle Carver, Bud Thompson and Sammy White. Hughes was born Jan 1, 1903 in Knox County, and was the son of Luther Edgar and Annie (Lackey) Hughes. He and Daisy Hicks were Maried on November 24, 1924 in Benjamin, TX He was a farmer and rancher. Survivors include his wife; a son, Edgar of Lubbock; a brother, L. L. of Knox City; a sister Mrs. Helen Robbins of Fremont, Calif. and two grandchildren.
