John was the son of Consider Holcomb and Eunice Gillet. He married Jane Lamson daughter of Elnathan Lamson and Jane Hayes. John and Jane were the parents of James, Jane, Benoni, Lucy, John, Phiny and Isaac. John was a private in the American Revolution in Captain Allyn's Company 3rd Connecticut Regiment serving from January 1781 to December 1781. In 1818 John received a pension #S37116 at age 58 in Connecticut and was in Muskingum County, Ohio in 1820.
