Mary Elizabeth Jones, eldest known child of Rev. Amasa Jones and Roxana Stearns, b. circa 1822 at Harmony Mission to the Osage Indians, in Osage Indian Territory, now Bates County, MO. She was bapt. at Harmony Mission Oct. 1, 1823 and d. of record Apr. 15, 1895 at Madera County, CA, age 73. At the time of her death she is stated to have been married, versus a widow, but no corresponding death record for her husband can be found.
In circa 1845 Mary was m. by her father to James Allen, b. of unknown parents at North Carolina. In the Oct. 18, 1850 enumeration of the June 1, 1850 federal census of Deepwater Twp, Henry County, MO James Allen was recorded as then being 28 years old; in the July 13, 1860 federal enumeration of Tulare County, CA he was recorded as 40 years old; in the July 1870 federal enumeration of Fresno County, CA as 51 years old; and finally in the June 1, 1880 census of Fresno County, CA as 60 years old.
