Obituary-Tubbs
Rachel Ann Tubbs was born Mar 31, 1870, the daughter of Elijah and Susan Doan. She spent her entire life in Wisconsin and early life in Iowa. She lived in Darlington until the death of her husband, McClelland Tubbs on November 21, 1940. From then on she continued to live with her youngest daughter, Mrs. Joe McKillip in Willow Springs. On October 6th she entered a hospital in Madison for an operation , from which she never recovered. She passed to her reward on Nov. 4th, 1944.
To this union was born four children, namely: Edna, Mrs. Geo. McKillip; Susan, Mrs. Louis Heins; Delilah, Mrs. Joe McKillip, and a son dying in infancy. She also leaves two brother, Leonard Doan of Dixon Ill., and George Doan of Darlington; twenty grandchildren, three of whom serve their county, Wilbert Heins in France, Walter McKillip in New Guinea, and Harold McKillip in Florida; and eleven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. A kind an loving mother she was to her children and especially her little grandchildren, of whom she never tired and will be missed by all.
Funeral Services were held from the Nelson Funeral Home at 1:30 on Monday, Rev. Jeffrey officiating, and burial was in Union Grove cemetery. Pall bearers were six grandsons, Donald, Vincent, McClelland McKillip, Francis, Bernard and Guerdon Heins.
