My brother Billy was the first of seven children born to William and Dorothy Boyer. He was born 15 years prior to my birth, so I obviously don't have any memories of him and I growing up together. He joined the military when I was a few years old and was pretty much gone from our lives for a few years.

It was while he was in New York he met and married Mary Bridget Searow. I do remember their trips home to Pennsylvania every summer. At first it was just the two of them, but then their family started to expand. They had 5 children.....William Joseph, James Patrick, John David, Mary Beth, and Thomas Andrew.

Billy died unexpectedly, 2 days before his 55th birthday. He was preceded in death by his father William E. Boyer and his youngest brother Steven W. Boyer. He is sadly missed by all of his family.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning,
that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always by our side.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
