Mary was raised by her mother and grandparents in New Canaan Connecticut. She was the beautiful first wife of William Peter Cole of Bawnlea Ireland.
Those who have seen her photo say she had beautiful red hair and high cheekbones. (copy of photograph to be added soon)
Mary was the loving mother of Percy, Cecil, Ercilla, William and Lester Cole.
Mary lost twin girls at birth, a son at birth, and her son Cecil at only 7 years old. The memory of her lost babies and son haunted her for the rest of her life.
I do not have a photo of her yet, the lady standing next to William is his second wife, my Grandmother. The photo of the young girl is her daughter Ercilla at 16 years old. I picture Mary brushing Ercilla's hair and pulling it up into the bow. She would have added the tatting at Ercilla's neck and at last moment tried to smooth out her wayward strands of hair.
Mary's home was very active household and her sons have always spoken of her with love and respect. They spoke of her gentleness and unconditional love.
They must have missed her terrible after losing her at only 48 years old.

We also know from the cemetary records that she also had a stillborn boy. Could the census taker be stating she had six pregnancies and not recorded the twins as two children? Or.... are the cemetary records wrong and it was the twins buried there? Unknown. Being researched with the cemetary and I'll update ****
