My Grandfather died long before I was born, but the family stories of him were fascinating.

William P. Cole was born in Bawnlea, Kilcooley County Tipperary Ireland in 1867. He immigrated to the United States in 1890.

He raised his family in Norwalk, Connecticut where he was employed by Lockwood Manufacturing (bronze casting).

William was quite the character with a cantankerous personality and an independent mind. During the prohibition he kept a small still in his basement.

William married Mary Eliza Hallet and they had five children: Percy, Cecil (died young), Ercille, William and Lester and three babies that did not survive.

Sadly, Mary Eliza passed away in 1920.

In 1922 William sent to Ireland for Mary Anne Miller who was to become his second wife. He and Mary Anne had two children, Peter Richard and Elizabeth Emily.
