MUNCIE - Rovelt Jackson was born on September 2, 1933. He was affectionately known as "Jake the Snake" by friends and loved ones. Mr. Jackson departed this life on June 23, 2010.

He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and remained a Christian throughout his life at the Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where he was a faithful member for sixty years by serving on the Deacon and Trustee Boards.

He attended Travel Rest Baptist Church School, in Belzoni, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Edna and Calvin Jackson; his beloved wife, Patricia "Pat: Jackson; daughter, Debra Jackson; brothers, Calvin, Ernest, and A.C. Jackson; sisters, Catherine and Mealier Jackson.

He loved and admired his mother and his family heritage. He had a quick-witted sense of humor and contagious laugh. He never met a stranger who didn't become a friend.

Rovelt also enjoyed traveling with his lifelong friend, Mr. Odell Scott. They loved to go to Vegas.

In his business, as a self-employed contractor, he opened his doors and his generosity to many In his lifetime, Rovelt also held many jobs and wore many hats as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, confidant, and friend. Rovelt also worked for the Marhoefer Meat Parking for thirty years and Indiana Steele and Wire Mill for seventeen years.

His memory will always be in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have been part of his life.

Rovelt is survived by sisters, Mary, Yazoo City, MS, Josephine Jackson, Everline Jones, Corrine Jackson, all of Niles, Michigan and Jesse Woodard, Moorhead, MS; his devoted children, one son, Roosevelt (Linda) Jackson, Muncie, IN; three daughters, Crystal (Phil) Tassin, Pontiac, MI, Doris Minton-McNeill and Candi Gains, Indianapolis, IN; his brother-in-law, William Ballou, Muncie, IN; one sister-in-law, Druella Jackson, Muncie, IN; eleven grandchildren, Anthony Jackson, Le'teah (Vern) Butler, Roosevelt (April) Jackson, III, Franklin (Love) Minton, Jason (Ashley) Wingo, Augustus Gaines, Patrick Jackson, Chriscell Downey, Jarmarr, Christopher and Cierra Jackson; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Greater Pilgrim Rest with Rev. Samuel Burress officiating.

Calling hours will be two hours prior to services at the church. Internment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
