Mrs. Sallie Quarles Dies at Elkhart

Final rites for Mrs. Sallie Quarles, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Elkhart with Rev. U. Van Sickle. Burial will be in Pilgrim Cemetery.
Mrs. Quarles died Friday at 10:30 p.m. at her home in Elkhart. Born in Kentucky, she had lived most of her life in Anderson County.
Survivors include her husband, W.B. Quarles, Elkhart; four sons, C.B. Quarles, Waco; C.M. Quarles, Velasco; and C.A. Quarles, Fort Worth; **note-the paper says four sons, but only lists three sons**
Seven daughters, Mrs. Hazel Gammage, Elkhart; Mrs. Ann Holcomb, Mrs. Olive Gillispie and Mrs Lena Mullens all of Houston; Mrs. Winnie Marlatt, Galveston; Mrs. Kathryn Taylor, Waco; Mrs. Bea Thaxton, Dallas; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Sallie was the daughter of J. William and wife Jennie Hunter Cromwell. She was born in Kentucky.
She married William Breckenridge Quarles.
Her sister Jessie was married to his brother Clarence Quarles.
Breck and Sallie had the following children;

2. Cromwell b. 1892 d.
3. Lena b. 1895
4. Kathryn b. 1887
5. Winnie b. 1899
6. Olive
7. Ann
