Joseph was a farmer on Cold Soil Road. He joined the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church in 1810, and was a church trustee in 1824. He also served as an overseer of roads in Lawrence Twp., 1815-1818; collector and overseer of the poor, 1820-1840; and as a member of the town committee, 1841-1846.
Note that Joseph signed his name "Peirson" like his father, though it is "Pierson" on his gravestone, which is the spelling his children and descendants used.
