Annie Combs was born Ola Ann Goodlin, 29 Mar 1881, the daughter of Samuel Wesley Goodlin (1851-1928) and Mary Mackey (1846-). Her siblings included James Ezra (1874-1956), Thomas Tilden (1876-), Amanda Elizabeth (1878-1962), Jesse David (1883-), Samuel Wesley (1886-1951), Delila Jane (1888-1949), Henry Elmer (1891-), and Ethel May/Mary (1894-).

Ola Ann married first, 8 Jan 1897 in Wayne County, Indiana, James A Ruby (1874-1914). They had a daughter, Alta May Ruby (1898-1965). In 1900 they resided in Whitewater Town, Wayne County, Indiana. James Ruby married Christiana Neggle 27 Apr 1901 suggesting that Ola Ann and James seperated sometime before that date.

Ola Ann married second, 27 Jun 1903 in New Paris, Preble County, Ohio, Bert Isaiah Combs (1881-1940). They resided in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana in 1910. Bert's draft registration in 1918 places them in Chautauqua County, New York. The 1920 census records Ola Ann and Bert in Chelsea, Washtenaw County, Michigan. The 1930 census finds them in Portland, Chautauqua County, New York. Bert's obituary states that they lived in Ann Arbor for nine years before coming from New York State in 1931. Bert died in Chelsea, Washtenaw County, Michigan 27 Oct 1940. Ola Ann died in Ann Arbor, 2 Sep 1967, recorded in her obituary in the Chelsea Standard, 7 Sep 1967.

Bert and Ola Ann had the following children:
Earl Bert (1904-1972), Edgar Homer (1908-1966), Mary Amanda Viola (1910-1975), Flora (1912-1912), Elizabeth Louella "Bessie" (1917-2003), and AnnaBelle (1919-).
