It would appear that at some point in time, he changed his name from Senior to Ineson. He is listed in rosters for both the 46th Mass. Inf. & 2nd Connecticut Light Artillery as "Stephen Senior".

He enlisted as a private in the 46th Mass. Inf., Co. E. on Aug. 25, 1862. He was listed as being a 27 year old weaver residing in Boston. He was mustered out July 29, 1863 at Springfield, Mass.

He enlisted as a private in the 2nd Connecticut Light Artillery on Feb. 22, 1864. He was residing in Hartford at the time. He was mustered out August 9, 1865 at New Haven.
