Mr. Gunn has been in a declining state of health for some time and his death was not an unexpected event. He was born in July 1799 and was therefore almost eighty-six years of age. In the year 1838 he married Miss Lucy A. Owen who departed this life on the 21st of last June. The year after their marriage he moved from Illinois to Lawrence Co., this state where they lived for 12 years. Since which time Mr. Gunn has been a respected member of this community and leaves a host of friends to bear witness to his good name. Six children survive him four of whom are well known citizens of this county Viz. O.D., H.O., R.B. Gunn and Mrs John Reed and two daughters, Mrs. Eliza Pease and Adline Hanlock (Hadlock)
residing in Kansas. His remains were interned in the Hadlock burying ground, on Wednesday afternoon, by a large concourse of sorrowing neighbors, friends and relatives.
