David Joseph Blanton
A landowner planter in the Playcard Community of Horry County, S.C., he joined the South Carolina Volunteers Infantry at Blanton's X-Roads, now Green Sea, on January 1, 1862. His Regiment served at Charleston, Vicksburg, Kinston, Weldon, Petersburg, Richmond and places in between. He died at nearby Jackson Hospital and was buried in this Hallowed Grounds with thousands of his fellow fallen Confederate States of America soldiers. May he, and they, forever rest in Heavenly peace.
