BESSIE M. FELTMAN

Bessie Mabel Feltman, daughter of Frederick and Henrietta Feltman, was born near Etna, in Scotland County, Missouri, August 23, 1876. She was educated in the public schools of Scotland County, graduated from high school at Gorin, Missouri, and attended State Teachers College at Kirksville, Mo. After completing her education, she taught in the public schools of Scotland County for a good many years.

When she was a young girl, she affiliated with the Wyaconda Christian church, in which church she held continuous membership until the time of her death. She was most active in the relInternational Genealogical Indexous work of her church, and taught a Sunday school class for many years.

In 1898 she was united in marriage to William Hunt Blattner and to this union two children were born. Mr. Blattner preceded her in death in 1930.

Mrs. Blattner was active in community affairs. She was employed by the Morgan Oil Co. for years, and also worked as bookkeeper for the Smith Brothers. She served as Town Clerk for several years, and was also town registrar for some time. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge,and served as Recorder for that organization for about thirty years.

She is survived by her son, Carl Frederick, of Bound Brook,New Jersey, her daughter, Reta (Mrs. J. B. Deck) of Riverside, Ill.,five grandchildren, Mrs. Clyra Deck Gregory of Riverside, Ill., Mrs. Nita Deck Givens, of Boise, Idaho, Joan, Carolyn and Ann Blattner of Bound Brook, New Jersey, one sister, Mrs. Grover Dye of Arbela, Mo., one brother, Ed Feltman of Fort Benton, Montana, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She had gone to Riverside to spend the winter with her daughter, came ill there and was taken to MacNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn, Ill., where she passed away December 8, 1955 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 15 days.
