Earl retired from the WV Department of Highways as an equipment operator. He had formerly worked for the Wood County Schools as a bus driver and was a farmer his whole life. In addition to farming, Earl was an outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting, working in the garden and around the farm with his grandson Josh and spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Sandy (Knight) Tennant, two daughters: Crystal Tennant and her fiancee Dana Wheeler and Amy Brode and husband Phillip, of New England, three brothers: Jack Tennant, whom he considered his best friend, of New England and Charlie and James Tennant of Parkersburg, sister Mary Catherine McIntyre of Walker, half sister Sharon Wells of Parkersburg, 5 grandchildren: Shaila, Joshua, Tiffany, Hunter and Ashley and special friends Dave and Mary Yoder of Sugar Creek, OH.
Funeral services will be Monday 11AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 2-8PM.
In keeping with Earl's wishes, he will be cremated and his remains will be buried at the New England Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
