COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for J.B. Bilbrey, 94, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, March 18, at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Algood City Cemetery.
Family will receive friends today, Monday, March 17, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 18, from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Bilbrey died suddenly Saturday evening March 15, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 17, 1913, in Overton County, to the late Elmo and Kate Nickolbe Newberry Bilbrey.
Mr. Bilbrey was an active member of Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church. He was a former school teacher in Overton County and was a retired associate with the former McCord-Wynn. He was known in the Cookeville and Upper Cumberland area as "The Watkins Man."
His family includes his sister, Bessie Dillon of Rickman, his best friend and confidant, Bill Roberson and wife Mildred of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bilbrey was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Myrle Roberson Bilbrey (who died July 14, 1999); two sisters, Hallie Bilbrey and Edith Akkins; and a brother, Polk Bilbrey.
Rev. Jack Taylor will officiate the services.
