BASTROPIAN NOW IN NEW GUINEA TELLS OF LIFE DEALING WITH NATIVES
D. P. Whitton, formerly of Bastrop and now of the United States Navy Reserves, find life rather interesting in New Guinea according to a letter received at the Enterprise this week. Mr. Whitton wrote several letter to the Enterprise about New Guinea and its people, but most discuss things that "nowadays" are considered inappropriate. The letters and news article are very interesting. - Bonnie

BASTROPIAN & NEW GUINEA NATIVES
This is one of the eleven (11) pictures sent to the Enterprise by D. P. Whitton, of New Guinea, in a recent letter. On the back row if Chief Carpenter's Mate Spencer, Chief Carpenter's Made Maki and Chief Boatswain's Mate D. P. Whitton. Mr. Whitton wrote that "I didn't have an opportunity to learn the gentleman's name with the drums on the front row."

"These pictures prove everything that I wrote you before. All but those seven skirts they are supposed to wear. I give up on that. I don't ever have a chance to count 'em."Diamond Whitton Married 13 Sep 1919, Ashley, Arkansas, United States to Ruth Jefcoats from Crossett, Ashley, Arkansas.
