Chuancey was born the youngest son of Seely Finch and his wife (probably Deborah Ann Mead) prior to 1810 when Seely came to Tioga Co, NY with four boys and no wife (son Ira having been already married).
Family stories say that Seely buried his son (physically digging the grave and placing the body himself) prior to his own death. It is not known why a 59 year old man would do this. Dates on the tombstone photo indicate that this story has some basis in fact.
Chauncey had no children.

His brothers are:
Ira Finch of Clinton Co, MI
Amasa Finch of Huron Co, OH
Phillip Finch of Waverly, NY
James Finch of Bradford Co, PA (see Nichols Cemetery, Tioga, Co, NY).
a step brother named:
William Roe Finch of Waverly, Lackawanna Co, PA
