Cora Belle was the first of seven children born to Robert John Dempster (1856-1927) and his second wife Jerusha Joanne Stearns (1858-1946). She married Walter Samuel "Sam" Crowell (1877-1963). He was a son of M. E. Crowell and his wife Della Stevens, of Union County. Cora and Sam lived at Newell, Mecklenburg Co. She died at the Presbyterian Home at High Point, NC.
