Mrs. Claras A. Kriegel, 84, of Brooklyn, IA, died Saturday, August 04, 2001, at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn, Iowa.
Funeral services for Claras Kriegel were held at 10 AM, Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rev. Richard Okumu officiated. The organist was Marilyn Kriegel and the vocalists were Kevin Kriegel, Shannon Kriegel and Lucia Dhooge.
Flower attendants were Mike and Mary Ellen Maschmann, Roger and Carol Van Renterghem, and Charlie and Judy Calderwood. Casket-bearers were Jodie Hanson, Dan Miner, Julie Cline, Annette Corbett, Joe Kelley, Brian Cassady, Susan Kriegel, Jennifer Hildebrand, Kraig Kriegel, Ryan Miller, Travis Solem, and Melissa Plants. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.
A Rosary service was held at 7 PM Monday, August 6, 2001, at Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn.
A memorial fund has been established.
Claras Agatha Henle Kriegel, daughter of Frank Henle and Nettie Gettis Henle, was born July 13, 1917, in Tama County, Iowa.
Claras received her education at Tama. On March 7, 1937, she was married to Lloyd Joseph Kriegel, in Tama, IA. They farmed north of Malcom. Mr. Kriegel died November 30, 1974. In 1975 Claras moved into Brooklyn.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St. Patrick's Altar & Rosary Society.
Claras enjoyed her family, baking and gardening and always tried to be a good example.
Her parents, her husband , three brothers, Veril, Horace and George Henle, daughter in law, Cheryl Kriegel, granddaughter, Christina Kriegel, and son in law, Dennis Miller preceded her in death.
Surviving are her twelve children and their spouses: Nancy and Art Miner, of Waukee, Alvin and Barbara Kriegel of Cedar Rapids; Raymond and Mary Kriegel of Toledo; Virginia and Bob Ricketts of Brooklyn, Barbara and Jim Kelley of Ames, Dolores and Gaylen Kron of Riverside, LaVerne and Roseanne Kriegel of Malcom, Rita and Stan Ochs of Brooklyn, Paul and Janice Kriegel of Malcom, Janice and Tom Eggert of Falls River, WI, Ruth and Skip Solem of Brooklyn, and Anne and Andy McCulley of Brooklyn; two brothers, Wayne Henle of Cedar Rapids and Dale Henle of Toledo; five sisters, Marcella Osterberger of Mason City, Teresa Kriegel of Brooklyn, Ellen Olson of Tama, Barbara Metz of Tama, and Imelda Roth of Brooklyn; 46 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 1 step great grandchild.
