Daughter of John Oliver Raines and his second wife, Mary Caroline Clark. Vivian was 7 years old when her father died, and 9 years old when her mother died.

Vivian married Joseph Farrar on June 10, 1927, in Peoria. He died March 2, 1982, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her son, Delbert, 10 brothers and sisters, and 2 half brothers. Surviving was her daughter, JoAnn Lambie of Bartonville, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Vivian worked at Caterpillar during World War II, then was an office manager for several real estate companies in the Peoria area. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville and the Cursillo Community, Keystone Retirees Club and Peoria Eagles Lodge 265. She was a former vice president of the residents' association at B'nai B'rith, where she won a Good Samaritan Award and was a member of the B'nai B'rith road show for about 20 years.
