1862: Thomas Leonard Thompson enlisted in Co.K, 2nd Kansas Cavalry, on the Union side, a move that may not have made it pleasant for his family living in pro slavery Missouri. He served to the end of the war, married Miss Mary Moore. Together, they brought nine children into the world
