The obituary for Mrs. Martha Elvira Balch Renner stated that she was born in Indiana, Sept. 30, 1821 and died in Strasburg, April 10, 1896 at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 10 days. Her husband preceded her to the grave two years and six months. She was the mother of 12 children, six of whom survived her, three sons and three daughters. One son lived in Kansas, the other lived in Shelby County. She married Samuel Renner, Nov. 8, 1838. She united with the Presbyterian Church in her 17th years. Her funeral was conducted at the Richland church by W. W. M. Barber. Burial was in Richland Cemetery. Windsor Gazette - 16 Apr 1896
