Bertha M. Gillespie, 96, who lived most of her life in the Clarksburg and Buena Vista, Ind., area, died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 1989, in the IOOF Home in Greensburg.

She was born in Franklin County, Ind., Aug. 17, 1892, the daughter of Lee and Mary Hannebaum Sherwood. She was a member of the Buena Vista Christian Church. She was married to David W. Gillespie Sept. 7, 1907, and he preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1973.

She is survived by four sons, Richard Gillespie, Osgood, Ind., Lawrence Gillespie, Greensburg, William H. Gillespie, Richmond, Ind., and Harold Gillespie, laurel; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters; two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

The Rev. John Johnson will conduct the services at 1 p.m. Monday in the Moster and Cox Mortuary, Rushville, Ind.

Burial will be in the Clarksburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests that memorials go to the American Heart Association.
