Harold E. Gillespie, age 86 of Laurel, IN passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at his residence.

Harold Gillespie was born on October 27, 1922 in Geneva, IN to the late David W. and Bertha Mae (Sherwood) Gillespie. He was married to Nina Marie Gillespie on June 1, 1940, and she preceded him in death June 29, 2009.

He lived most of his life on Stipps Hill Road in Franklin County as a farmer. He loved being outdoors doing things with the family and being in Franklin County enjoying the community and neighbors very much. He was a member of the Buena Vista Christian Church.

Survivors include his three daughters; Jackie (Dave) Cook of Versailles, IN., Shellia (Gary) Martin of Laurel, IN, Beverly (Sherman "BOB" ) Safewright of Greensburg, IN; two sons, Harold "Pete" R. Gillespie of Carmel, IN and Danny (Sue ) Gillespie of Batesville, IN; one brother Bill (Lois) Gillespie of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marie Gillespie, his parents,(Dave and Bertha Gillespie), two brothers (Lawrence and Richard Gillespie), two sisters-in laws (Laura Gillespie and Goldie Gillespie), one grandson (Chris Safewright) and daughter-in-law (Peggy Gillespie)

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00pm Thursday July 23rd at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville, IN with Rev. John Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Stipps Hill Cemetery in Laurel.

Friends may call at 1:00pm Thursday at Todd Funeral Home.
