James Lucian Beebout was born in Jefferson County, Ohio in 1844. Served as a Private in Company A, in the 5th Ohio Calvary during the Civil War. After the war he married Emily Elisabeth (McCarroll) and moved to Tama County, Iowa, where farmland could be had for .50 to $2 per acre. Retired to Marshalltown, Iowa. Lived his final years with his eldest daughter Luella in Hillsborough, Florida. He now rests peacefully with his wife Emily.
