He had attended Montclair High School and graduated from Montclair Academy in 1946. He attended Lafayette College and Drake Business College.
He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII, and was employed by Singer/Kearfott in Little Falls for 40 years, until his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of the Smithville VIPs, New Jersey Jazz Society, Kappa Delta Rho fraternity, Hill City Square Dance Club and the Harmony Dancers.
He was predeceased by his sister Ruth Richtmyre Combs.
Leon was husband of Jean B. Richtmyre; father of Jill R. Loesser and Amy R. Williamson; step-father to Tom Brodell, Susan Carmenaty and Mark Brodell; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He was also survived by his brother William C. Richtmyre.
Funeral Services at the Absecon Presbyterian Church, 208 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. Committal Services in the chapel at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
