Douglas was the eleventh child of 13 children born to Frederick Harvey Bahr [see memorial] and Henrietta Dinges. He was also the grandson of Harvey Lewis Bahr and Annie Edwards [see memorials], and the great grandson of Frederick John Bahr and Margaret Kessler [see memorials].

Douglas married Elaine Jackson on Sept 27, 1952 at Calvary Baptist Church in Towson, MD.

It is not known at this time if they had children.
