Jane Pendleton Garth Davis, 69, of Charlottesville, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital, with family present.

She was the daughter of the late Robert Bowie Garth and Alice Dawson Garth.

She was retired from the University of Virginia Health Systems after 34 years of service as a nurse and nursing supervisor. In her retirement, she was also a business owner together with her husband. She graduated from the University of Virginia Diploma Program for Nursing, and she also earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Piedmont Virginia Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from James Madison University, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from James Madison University.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a member of Meadows Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert M. Davis Jr., two daughters, Catherine Davis of Palmyra and Karen Davis Cunningham of Augusta County; a son, Bruce Davis, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Harrisonburg; two beloved grandchildren, Paul Cunningham III and Alexander Davis. Other surviving relatives include a sister, Elaine Garth Buck of Richmond; a brother, Edward Garth and his wife, Lee Ann, of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Davis Breeden, and her husband, Jim Breeden, of Charleston, South Carolina; two nieces, three nephews, six grandnieces, and two grandnephews.

The family acknowledges the outstanding care and compassion that was given by Dr. Gordon Morris and his practice partner, Dr. Rob Pritchard, Dr. Cynthia Spaulding and her practice partner, Dr. Sylvia Hendrix, and Dr. Frances Ansa of Martha Jefferson Hospital. The family also thanks the nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, patient care assistants, and support staff from the clinic/infusion center, radiation oncology center, South 7, and the Intensive Care Unit at Martha Jefferson Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. The excellent continuity of care that their loved one received at each level of her illness was a blessing. God bless you all!

A graveside service for all family and friends was held at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville, Thursday, June 24, 2010, with the Reverend Tom Goodrich officiating.
