Officer Weber served with the Louisville Division of Police for five months when he was killed. While on duty he and his partner were breaking up a fight between a group of men at Floyd Street and Woodbine Avenue. One of the men produced a gun and shot Officer Weber in the chest. His partner then shot and wounded the assailant. Officer Weber died the next day.

Richard Moore was convicted of murder in a jury trial and given life in prison.
