Gerald E. Moyer, 86, served in the U.S. Marine Corps

Gerald E. Moyer, Sergeant Major, Retired, USMC, 86, formerly of Rocky Mount, N.C., passed away Friday, June 18, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Bechtelsville, on Sept. 29, 1923, he was a son of the late Leonard James and Sallie Rhodes Moyer.
Gerald served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 27 years and retired as a Sergeant Major. He also worked for Hardees for 20 years as a director of operations.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Ki Suk Moyer of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a daughter, Linda Hendricks and her husband, Jimmy of Nashville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Tyler and Dustin Hendricks; a brother, Donald Moyer and his wife, Henrietta of Richmond, Va.; a sister-in-law, Jean Moyer; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Moyer and a sister, Grace Merkel.
A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, in Arlington National Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the United States Marine Corps.
