Enos was the 8th of 9 children born to an immigrate Quaker farm family of 175 acres in what was then called Pennsylvania Co., PA. That portion of Philadelphia County became Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1784. His father was the most prominent Quaker in PA in his time and a church elder for 30 years.
Enos married Elizabeth Coulston in June, 1748 also in Philadelphia Co., PA. Enos and Elizabeth announced their second intent to marry on 26 May 1748 during Exeter Monthly Meeting. On 30th of 4th mo 1748 or 30 Jun 1748, Friends who had attended the marriage, reported the event had been accomplished prior. Quakers provide the number of the month and not the name of the month in their records. The Julian Calendar was in use until 1752 in the American Colonies and March was the first month. Berks county was formed on March 11, 1752 from parts of Chester County, Lancaster County, and Philadelphia County
Enos and Elizabeth named their children: Thomas, Hannah, Rebecca, Jane, Dinah, Ellis, William, Enos Jr., Jonathan, and Elizabeth.
When Enos Ellis died, he was living in Berkeley County, Virginia. West Virginia didn't become a state until 1862.

The Old Quaker Cemetery is now called the Arden United Methodist Church & Cemetery. A search in 2011 determined that no markers exist for any Ellis family members resting now in this cemetery.
