Another of Russell County's oldest citizens, John Rue Holt, succumbed at the home of a son, Marcus Holt, just East of Jamestown, Tuesday, April 28. Mr. Holt was 89 years old, and had been very ill and feeble for some time.

Known widely in this country, Mr. Holt was a farmer most of his life. In the last few years he had been retired. He was a member of the Freedom Christian Church, and an active worker as long as health permitted. Mrs. Holt passed away, at an advanced age, nearly a year ago. Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at the Jamestown Christian Church at 1:00 P.M. with Reverends Bryan Maxey, H.B. Popplewell, and Elder Walter McKinney conducting.

Survivors include four sons and four daughters. They are: O.H., Owen and Marcus Holt, all of this county; Vernon Holt, Indianapolis; Mrs. Lona Carnes, Jamestown; Mrs. Edith Brooks, Russell Springs; Mrs. Minnie Butler, Indianapolis; Mrs. Mary Lou Sedam, Indianapolis. Interment was in the Jamestown Cemetery, Pruitt Funeral Home taking care of all arrangements.
