The son of Willard Eldridge and Evelyn Nichols Eldridge Stinson. After his parents divorced he used the surname of his adoptive father. His mother, Evelyn Nichols was the sister of playwright Anne Nichols. Anne Nichols wrote the famous play of the 1920s called "Abie's Irish Rose." Evelyn played "Rosemary" in the play. Evelyn's sister Elsie also played "Rosemary" in the play at one time. Married a Phyllis Johnson. They had three children named Bill,Troy ( born May 16, 1942 and died May 24, 2011 King's Beach CA) and Anne Marie Stinson Morgan. William later had a son named,Tommy, to his second wife, Sandy. Mr. Stinson lived in Edgecliff, CA and he worked at Paramount Studios as Vice President of the music department. He died of a heart attack.
