Mrs. Berta Pickett
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Lawrence Chapel for Mrs. Berta Pickett, 85, of Fairfield. Mrs. Pickett was born in Clay Hill community on July 21, 1885, and died Monday in the Fairfield hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Freestone County.
Officiating were the Rev. Norman Burks and the Rev. H. L. McKissack. Interment was in Driver Cemetery under direction of Lawrence Funeral Home.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Faye Lee of Fairfield, Mrs. Eula Mae Dorn of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Berta Smith of Las Cruces, N. M.; four sons, Clarence Pickett of Hawkins, Tom Pickett of Mexia, Jimmy D. Pickett of Dallas and Robert Albert Pickett of Fairfield; two brothers, Hugh Blakeney, Teague, and Hollis Blakeney of Seminole; two sisters, Mrs. M. L. Young and Mrs. Bessie Rikard of Teague; and 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
