Katherine had three sisters: Mildred, Jessie, and Alice and two brothers: Herbert-who died in infancy-and Louis.
She married Ernest Poling on September 11, 1928 and they lived in Lenox, Ohio before moving to their farm in Williamsfield. She and her husband were members of Williamsfield Methodist Church.
They had five daughters: Edith, Helen, Florence, Marian, and Doris.

Mrs. Ernest (Katherine B.) Poling, 65, 139 Chesnut St., died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren.
She was born July 10, 1908 in New Lyme Township, the daughter of Glenn and Celia Hayford Spencer.
A lifelong resident of Ashtabula County, she was a member of Williamsfield Methodist Church and the 55 and Over Club.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Poling, whom she married September 11, 1928; four daughters, Helen Poling of Youngstown, Mrs. Charles (Florence) Armstrong of Mecca, Mrs. Eric (Marian) Friedrich of Lenox, Mrs. Norman (Doris) Simon of Andover; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Brown of Ashtabula, Mrs. Jessie Zwaduk of Lenox; a brother, Louis Spencer of Geneva; and nine grandchildren. A daughter, Edith, and a sister, Alice Childs, preceded her in death.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Baumgardner Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Williamsfield Cemetery.
