He was a 1962 graduate of Noble High School in Wabash. James was a technical engineer at WPTA Channel 21 in Fort Wayne for 35 years. He was a former member of the Wabash Amateur Radio Club and enjoyed amateur radio operating and electronics.
He is survived by his mother, Marie Black of Wabash; his two sisters, Katherine Black of Wabash and Jeanne Spears of Elkhart; his brother, Wayne Black of Bozeman, Montana; four nephews, and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his dad, George, a brother, Carl Black, and a sister, Sue Flynn.
Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville, Indiana. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
