Mrs. Martha Sexson died at her home southeast of Mattoon at 7 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Sexson was the widow of the late W. A. Sexson of Ash Grove, and was born on Feb. 14, 1840, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Goode, who were among the early residents of that section of Shelby county. In that township she made her home until about twenty-four years ago, when the family removed to the farm southeast of Mattoon, where she died. She is survived by the following children: Frank Sexson, Mattoon; Harmon Sexson, living near the family home; Fred Sexson, Minneapolis, MN; Mrs. Edna Mc Allister, Neoga, and Mrs. Edith Horn, southeast of Mattoon. There is also one brother, Bluford Goode living in Paola, KS. Mr. Sexson, husband and father died ten years ago. The funeral was held at Ash Grove Christian church Monday morning, with burial in Ash Grove cemetery. Shelbyville Democrat - Thursday- 23 Dec 1920
