Death Notice from the Batavia Daily Newspaper dated 9-8-1947:

Mrs. Carrie L. Stickney, ninety, of No. 6 South Spruce Street, widow of John H. Stickney, died at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon (September 6, 1947) at the Genesee Memorial Hospital. She suffered a fractured right hip in a fall at her home on Labor Day.

Born at Brockport on July 12, 1857, Mrs. Stickney was a daughter of Francis and Matilda Guyon. She had resided in Batavia for sixty years.

Surviving Mrs. Stickney are two daughters, Miss Blanche D. Shumway and Miss May Stickney of the South Spruce street address; a son, John H. Stickney of Highland Park, Mich.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Bohm Mortuary. The Rev. Russell Moore, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 5 until 9 o'clock this evening.

Carrie's first husband was Solomon Shumway. He died at 25 years of age. She then went on to marry John H. Stickney Sr. on October 19, 1881.
