He was born in Waynesville and lived most of his life there. The son of the late Floyd and Janette DeWeese, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Whitner and J.C. DeWeese. He graduated from Waynesville High School and owned, worked for or managed several businesses in the Waynesville, Sylva and Commerce, GA areas.
